I come into Toronto twice a week and on both these mornings I am subjected to GO Train Madness. Commuters rush the doors and block each other from getting the last seat.
I have however noticed an alarming fact: During peak hours it is normal to see commuters sitting on the stairs and blocking all exits. What happens in an emergency? It occurred to me this morning that if there were to be an emergency the train cars contain more people than should be considered safe.
I don't know what the regulatory capacity numbers are, but there certainly isn't anyone keeping a tally score of how many people are within the small train cars.
