So I'm doing my story on young offenders in the Regent Park area and as a result, I am looking for statistics. Any statistics on young offenders and Regent Park. You'd think, with all the quotes of how bad the youth in Regent Park are, and how much of an issue there is with young offenders in Regent Park, there would be a statistics out there to cling all of these statements to.
Nope.
Not from what I have found so far.
The closest thing I seem to possibly have is the statistics from 51 Division. Or I would have them if someone would get them to me (read: get myself out there and politely hound the station for them). The only stats I have in hand are from StatsCan, and those numbers are only for all of Toronto.
Logistically, the stats really aren't that hard to compile. Seriously. Maybe a day with all the files, a database and a good typer. But no. Apparently you need a judge's permission for that information, despite the fact that the stats reveal nothing about particular youth.
I just want to know how many youth have been arrested IN REGENT PARK in the last year.
Not hard.
