Searching for Bobby Kennedy

I’m very excited to be working on a feature about Toronto’s Deep Lake Water Cooling System, which provides environmentally sustainable air conditioning to the towers on Bay Street in downtown Toronto. Bay Street is like Canada’s Wall Street.

So wouldn’t it be great to get some celebrity input and quotes? Give the story a bit of oomph!

Robert Kennedy Jr. is a champion of the Deep Lake Water Cooling System.

I tried finding Kennedy. through his website, but there’s no phone number listed there. I tried calling his uncle Senator Ted Kennedy to get a phone number but a staffer said no one there had his number. I replied, “I find that hard to believe,” but I duly left a message with a staffer who hasn’t called me back. No one has called me back.

Then I went on to find Alec Baldwin’s contact information. He is an environmentalist and was here for the opening of the plant. He has a company, el dorado pictures, which looked promising, but so far no one there has returned my phone calls or e-mail.

I found a site that works with Robert Kennedy. The woman I spoke with suggested calling Riverkeeper, Kennedy’s organization. Yes please! Give me a name! Give me the number!

I called the contact woman, sent her an e-mail, and still have had no response from Robert Kennedy. At least I’m closer though. The woman is his assistant. At least that what I’ve been told.

When tracking down celebrities, one must be patient. I’ll let you know if I ever manage to track down the most elusive of all creatures in our environment: celebrities.
