Another perspective

Blogger and I haven't been getting along in the past couple days so I'm going to go without the photos this week. The second business I profiled for my story was Cosmo West Records, a used record store on Queen Street West.

It was the milk crates outside that caught my eye. Old plastic wrapped record packages sat inside the crates by the storefront and passers-by leafed through the collectables. As I enter the store, smooth, calming music emanates from the speakers. Around the shop, record slips decorate the walls, many of them from artists and groups I've never heard of. The decor of the store is very clean and simplistic, colourful but muted at the same time. A record player sits by the cash register. The store is empty but the atmosphere is warm and inviting. As I look around, the store catches the eye of almost everyone that walks by. And after talking with the manager, it's clear the store is strictly for people with a passion and not the casual observer. The music is rare, expensive and eclectic and may not appeal to everyone. But for those interested, it's probably a great, hidden source for sounds from the past, played as they had been 20 years ago.
