Trinity Square

Have you ever left the Eaton Centre through the north west doors? Hidden behind the Ryerson University Business building and the Eaton Centre is Trinity Square. Although a popular hangout for toronto's homeless and smokers seeking a wind-free cubbie it is a suprisingly well maintained public space.

Caught in the middle of corporate buildings is the Church of Holy Trinity, now a cafe and a shelter for the homeless in the other half of the building.
Walking through the nooks and cranies of the square, you can't help but notice the mix of the old in front of you and the new in the backdrop.
Off in the corner of the alley I can see a few people huddled under blankets trying to stay dry in the morning storm.

This sign caught my attention, it is a list of the names of known deaths among toronto's homeless community.
I was shocked at the amount of names on the list, but at the same time it isn't suprising since we live in a city of several million with cold winters and a lack of shelters.
As sad as it is to think about, we should also try to think about all those who passed away and didn't make it onto the memorial at all.
